Everything we are ever going to get from God, He has already given to us when we accepted Jesus Christ into our lives. NOW, we need to activate what He has given us, so we can use what is rightfully ours.
If we allow the Word of God to lie dormant and don't activate it by using our faith, then in a time of crisis, when we decide that this Word should produce something for us, it will not. For example: It is no different then thinking we can lift a 100 lb. weight, when we've never lifted 10 lb weights. If we haven't used our muscles before, what makes us think that they will respond to lifting 100 lbs. without harming our muscles.
Have you ever gotten a Visa Card in the mail and read the instructions that say, "To use this new Visa card you must phone this number to activate it?". If we don't activate our card, then the card is useless to us, even though it is our Visa Card. Eventually, if you leave it lying dormant, it will expire and then when you need it in a time of crisis and go to activate it, the card no longer has any power to produce what you need.
We do the same thing with the Word of God, (the Bible). We haven't activated it and then all of a sudden when we want to hear from God a Word of Wisdom or have understanding on what to do in OUR time of need, we don't hear or we hear incorrectly, then we blame God for NOT answering us.
How do we activate the Word of God?
1) By Faith - the bible says, "Without faith, it is impossible to please God."
2) Be a Doer of The Word - the bible says, "You love the Lord your God with all your heart, you ask, you believe, you receive, you pray, you praise, you make a joyful noise, you love your neighbor as yourself, you study to show yourself approved unto God, you love your enemies, you forgive, you give, you serve, you train up a child in the way he should go".... and on and on it goes. YOU DO, I DO!
James 1:22 - "Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves". Do what it says.
Hearing without being a doer of what Jesus says will not stand up in the storm. Always remember, It was not the storm that caused the house to be destroyed; it was a lack of foundation. The man was not doing what Jesus said to do. The Bible says, submit to God, resist the devil and he will flee. ACTION!
There are NO LIMITS of what God can do for you and me, if we will activate His Word.
