Don't get caught up in things that really don't matter and end up leaving the things that do matter! So often the most important things are missed because we allow ourselves to get distracted by the dirt around it.
Today, so many life situations are distracting us from our main focus. It seems whichever dog is barking the loudest gets our attention, and we can be too easily moved by the noises and voices around us.
The strategy of the enemy is to keep us from fulfilling God's purpose and plan for our life and the only way he can do that is to keep us distracted and out of the flow of the Spirit. John 10:10 - "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full". How does the thief accomplish this task? One of the ways he is having a foothold in this area is through our cell phones and iPads as we allow them to become our God and jump at their every demand. This is a very serious problem!
One of the saddest things I see on a regular basis is when I go to a family restaurant and parents and children are sitting at a table and each one individually are on their cell phones through the entire meal, not paying any attention to one another.
Since our desires follow our attention, whatever you give your attention to is where your desire will be.
When you and I follow the leading of the Holy Spirit, He will help us keep our priorities straight. The Bible says that we are to ....live purposefully and worthily and accurately, not as the unwise and witless, but as wise (sensible, intelligent people), making the very most of the time (buying up each opportunity), because the days are evil. Ephesians 5:15-16.
When establishing our priorities it is important to understand that the things that are important to Jesus should be the things that are important to us. You and I need to be honest with ourselves about what our priorities really are. There are so many choices to which we can give our time and attention. We need to place God first in every area and if He isn't first, we need to make some adjustments. Our heavenly Father promises that when we put Him first and seek after His way of doing things, we will have great success. Ask Him to show you what needs to be realigned so that you don't allow so many distractions to take you off course from the direction He has for you.
