A compulsive liar is defined as someone who lies out of habit. Lying is their normal and reflexive way of responding to questions. Compulsive liars bend the truth about everything, large and small. For a compulsive liar, telling the truth is very awkward and uncomfortable while lying feels right.
SEEING THE LIE, will draw you to finding the truth!
Proverbs 14:5 - "An honest witness does not deceive, but a false witness pours out lies." 1 Timothy 4:2 - "Such teachings come through hypocritical liars whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron." This means that if we tell lies over and over, our conscience can end up being seared where we no longer can discern between truth and error. One lie doesn't do this, but little by little, if we continue on this path it will bring us to a destination of destruction, not only in our lives, but it will hurt others also.
We have ALL been in situations where we are confronted with the truth, and we have responded with what we call a "little white lie" to make ourselves look good and get the attention off of us and onto something else. Even though our "little white lie" might have some truth in it, it isn't always the whole truth, and if we continue down this path it will damage our faith and what we are building our faith on.
PINOCCHIO'S LIE: A great illustration of how we get caught in a lie! Please watch!!
There is an overload of information coming at us from all angles, so many voices speaking at once. How do we know how to discern a lie? Our world is upside down. Right is wrong and wrong is right. There's only one place you and I can go to that has the truth that we can stand on and that's the written Word of God. When a lie is exposed and brought into the light for you to see, ONLY then can the TRUTH come rushing in to replace the lie. The Bible says in John 8: 31-32 - ...if you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples, then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." If you are born again, (have asked Jesus Christ to come into your heart and lead and direct your life), you have the Holy Spirit on the inside of you, and the bible says in John 16:13, "HE will guide you into all truth."
In Matthew 7:15-20 the bible says, "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruit.....every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit..."
Before we go just listening and trusting what someone says to us, it is more important to check out if there is any fruit in their lives. What is his/her home life like? Do they treat family/wife/husband respectfully? Do their co-workers speak highly of them? Are they respected in the community? Do they operate in love and compassion?
YOU WILL KNOW THEM BY THEIR FRUIT!
