How do we enjoy the season that we are in today and not be looking over our shoulder wondering if we are missing something and thinking that the grass is greener on the other side?
Today, people are struggling with discontentment and dissatisfaction in life because they are listening to the voices in their head saying loud and clear, there is more to life then this, you are missing out, you need to make a change, look at so and so ....... on and on it goes, leaving us doubting whether or not we are in the right place. Perhaps you hunger for something challenging to give your life to. Maybe you began adulthood with great ideas of how you were going to make a difference in the world, but now find yourself struggling to make sense of feelings of emptiness and frustration. Not accepting and enjoying the season that we are in causes us to miss out on the purposefulness of what is before us every single day and recognizing that what we have in front of us is a gift from God, whether it is our spouse, kids, career, or ministry. We can view our job, meal preparation, grocery shopping, and diaper changing as dull and monotonous duties or a God-given opportunity to bless those around us. It is in the ordinary everyday routine of life and being faithful that God waits to see if He can entrust us with more. We are not to ignore or avoid the present opportunities while looking for a bigger, more noticeable project. Never neglect your family to carry out your unique life purpose. It is not God's plan for us to spend today chasing after our future. He wants us to just follow in His footsteps today. Matthew 6:34 - "So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." God intends for each of us to be motivated by purpose. In His wisdom He gave each of us varying degrees of the need to feel visible, to feel that we matter and to feel that we are making a contribution. As I get clearer insight into His purpose for me I realize what an honor it is for me to invest in my daily roles and to do today what God is requiring of me in my family, church, and community. God desires to use us right where we are today to prepare us for tomorrow.
