One Sunday evening, during the church service, our Pastor gave a word of prophecy. The words that stood out to me in this prophesy were, "Let Me Work My Wonder"! As I thought about these words I was reminded of a situation where a Mom was giving her daughter instructions, telling her to put her shoes on. As I watched this scenario play out, the Mother became impatient with how long it was taking her daughter to put her shoes on and ended up doing it for her. If that Mom continues to intervene, she will hinder her daughters progress. The same thing happens to us spiritually. When we pray and ask God to move on a loved one or friend, we can get ahead of ourselves and move too quickly to rescue them from their troubles. Meanwhile, God is working in them from the inside out, and we just don't see it yet. All the time God is saying, "Let Me Work My Wonder", be patient! James 1:6 "But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing!"
I believe too often as Christians we pray and let God know our requests, and if He doesn't answer us immediately, we take the situation into our own hands. Really, what we are saying is, "God you can't handle this on your own", you need MY HELP!
We say we want God to take control of our lives, but we won't let go! Trying to be God will wear you out fast. Look to him for direction. We are to lean on, rely only and entirely on Him, taking all the weight off of ourselves and putting it all on Him. Once we've made our request known to God in prayer, let's not come up with a backup plan. "Father Knows Best".
Zechariah 4:6 - Not by might nor by power,
but by My Spirit, says the Lord of hosts."
Don't limit God! BE PATIENT!
LET HIM WORK HIS WONDER!
