Do you continually find yourself saying, "I wish I never got angry, I wish I never got impatient, I wish I never felt offended, I wish I never felt bad, I wish I never felt sad?" Even when you prayed and tried to believe God, some of those negative emotions would just keep showing up and coming back. Galatians 5:22 explains to you and I that He has given us the fruit called self control, and yet many of us spend most of our time trying to control somebody else when we should be trying to control ourselves. 2 Timothy 1:7 in the amplified version Paul told Timothy God has not given us a spirit of fear, but a spirit of power, love and a calm, well balanced mind and a spirit of self control. The power is supposed to be against the devil, the love is toward other people, and the control is towards ourselves. But sad to say we try to love ourselves, control others and use the power in the wrong way. We get it all mixed up. I've had many women say to me, "I just can't control myself". If you are a Christian, you should never say that because you can control yourself. Your will and choice are involved to change this around by saying "I CAN CONTROL MYSELF" because God has given me the FRUIT OF SELF CONTROL. If you want to, and you'll begin to practice, then that fruit will develop and grow and self control will become a great friend in your life.
Self control is what keeps everything in our life in place.
When we feel angry, when we feel offended, when we feel hurt and wounded, we can control ourselves. It is important not to suppress the anger or deny it's existence, however we do need to deny it the right to control us. Use the fruit of self control and say I've been hurt, it's real, I feel it, but I'm not going to let it control me. I'm not going to let a feeling ruin my life. It's time for it to be over. Don't be touchy and easily offended going around carrying the hurt, stop it! When you feel these negative emotions, don't let it control you.
Romans 12:21 is a spiritual secret: you overcome evil with good!
This is a spiritual secret, you overcome evil with good. Anyone that can manage to do that and discipline their feelings enough to follow through and do it and not just to hear about it, are well on their way to major victory in their life.
Galatians 5:22-26 - But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.
This can be your time for change and total transformation!
