Years ago, I was struggling with a situation with someone that was really challenging to me. One day, as I was complaining to God about it I felt impressed to read 1 Corinthians 13, the love chapter. In reading this, it didn't take me long to realize that I wasn't operating in love towards this person and needed to make some changes myself. The Word of God, (the Bible), is like a mirror, it reflects the truth and as we accept it, we will be changed from the inside out!
WHAT DOES LOVE LOOK LIKE?
Love is patient - "Be completely humble and gentle; bearing with one another in love." Love is kind - "Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also forgave you." Love is not selfish - "Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor." Love is thoughtful - "How precious also are Your thoughts to me... How vast is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would outnumber the sand." Love is not rude - "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you". Love is not irritable - He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit, than he who captures a city." Love believes the best - "Love believes all things, hopes all things." Love is unconditional - "God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Love is honorable - "Live with your wives in an understanding way... and show her honor as a fellow heir of the grace of life." Each time I found myself becoming irritated or unhappy with others, I was reminded to read 1 Corinthians 13 and check to see how I was responding and reacting to the situation at hand. Interesting enough, EVERY TIME, I found myself falling short and needing to make some adjustments.
LESS OF ME LORD, AND MORE OF YOU!
I MUST DECREASE, SO YOU CAN INCREASE!
